Pleasant, Professional Pediatric Care in Fishers
Your child's first dental visit should be pleasant and enjoyable. We make a special effort to use non-frightening, simple words to describe each treatment. We want you and your child to feel completely at ease from the moment you arrive. The more you and your child know about the first visit, the better you will feel.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a first dental visit by your child’s first birthday. It is important that your child's first-year teeth receive proper dental care and we develop proper oral hygiene habits right away.
Your child's baby teeth will continue appearing until about age 3. Your child's gums may feel sore. We recommend that you soothe the gums by rubbing them gently with a clean finger or a cool, wet cloth. Some parents use a teething ring. You can expect a total of 20 primary teeth after teething. Permanent teeth begin erupting at age 6 and continue until age 21. As adults, we have 28 permanent teeth plus four wisdom teeth.
Sugary foods and liquids can attack a new tooth, so make sure that your child brushes after eating. We recommend that young children brush four times a day for optimal oral hygiene: after breakfast, lunch and dinner and at bedtime. Proper brushing and flossing combined with regular dental checkups help prevent tooth decay.
We welcome young patients from McCordsville, Fishers, Carmel, Westfield, Nobelsville, Geist and Indianapolis.
